COURSES OFFERED AT ST. MARK’S COLLEGE – May 12 – June 9, 2012 (Saturdays) 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. 1) THEO 522: Catholic Social Teachings by Shelley MacDonell and Fr. Gary Franken.
Catholic Social Teaching is about building a society based on justice and living lives of holiness amidst the opportunities and challenges of living in society. This course is an overview of Catholic social teaching, focusing on major themes that reflect the Church’s commitment to the poor and vulnerable as founded on the life and words of Jesus Christ, and as developed through the Church’s teaching. magisterium, especially papal encyclicals and Vatican statement.

2) RLED 512: Catechetics by Patrick Gillespie.

The course aims to explore the foundations and rationale of the Canadian catechetical program, its context and directives in the light of the Post Vatican II. Furthermore, it will lead the students to a deeper understanding and a greater appreciation of Catechesis in the faith formation in schools through Religious Education Programs.
