Parish Religious Education Program (P.R.E.P.)

St. Peter’s offers catechism classes once a week for the children.  These lessons give the parents an opportunity to review, discuss and discover our love and understanding of Jesus with their children.   All parents are encouraged to take an active part in their child’s learning which in turn will benefit the family as a whole.   PREP classes are offered every Wednesday at 6:15pm at the Parish Centre.   For more information call the Parish Office. The PREP classes also include preparation for the sacraments of First Communion, Reconciliation and Confirmation.

Who: Anna Almonte, Christie Bruce,  Claudia Gastaldo, Wally Licas, Meaghn Moore, Krista Tibay, Jenn Van der Zalm, Marisa Brown, Peter Von Riedeman, Nancy Beckman.

Memo to Parents

Welcome Back to ST. PETER’S PREP 2021/22

So many questions!  The answer to the first one is: YES, we will be running in person classes.  Mostly.  Level 1 will be the exception to the rule.  Krista will be offering a hybrid of in person and at home lessons. More on this later.

Next question’s answer is: New classes will begin Wednesday, October 6th.

A few very important notes:

  • Masks are mandatory for all students of all ages.
  • We will try our best to do as much social distancing as possible. Class sizes will also be a factor this year.
  • Online classes will NOT be offered.
  • All students preparing for a sacrament are required to have full attendance. No exceptions.
  • As previously mentioned LEVEL 1 is NOT in person every week. Our L1 catechist, Krista is developing a ‘best-case-scenario’ for all.  Will have a better understanding after registration numbers are in.
  • Regular classes will begin the first week of October – Wed. Oct. 6th. from 6:15 to 7:30.
  • Prices are as they were before Covid, $50 for one student, $100 for a family of two kids or more.  If anyone requires financial assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.  NO one will be turned down.
  • All new students are required to submit a copy of their baptismal certificates. Scanned copies are fine.
  • Registration is accepted with cash or cheque only – payable on the first week of classes.
  • Last year’s Confirmation and First Holy Communion Classes will be having their refresher/rehearsals during the month of September, in person – at the church.
